Organizing Authority

The International One Metre Class World Championships 2022 is organized by Sailing Club Val (JK Val) and the International One Metre Class Association in conjunction with World Sailing (WS) the Croatian Sailing Federation (HJS), and the International Radio Sailing Association (IRSA).

 

1. Rules

1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. RRS 90.3(e) shall apply.

1.3 The following changes to RRS will apply:

(a) Chartered or loaned boats may carry the national letters denoting the national authority and/ or the sail number of the person or organization providing the boat. This changes RRS G1.1(b) as modified by RRS E8.

 

2. Eligibility

2.1. 76 competitors will be accepted as per the class Championship Rules para.8.

The competition is open to International One Metre class boats selected by an IOM National Class Association in good standing with IOMICA and IRSA. The WS Regulations regarding eligibility apply with the additional requirements of the IOMICA Class Championship Regulations

 

3. Entry

3.1 Entries and allocation of places shall be governed by IOMICA Class Championship Regulations 8, Entries. (See allocation of places available after June 27th 2022) The initial closing date shall be July 27th 2022. The allocation of places shall take place within 14 days of the initial closing date.

3.2 Entry forms shall be available on the event website at www.2022iomworlds.com.

3.3 Completed entry forms shall be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. July 27th 2022 latest. Entry fees for places allocated under Stage One (according allocation of places available after June 27th 2022) shall be sent to the accounts indicated in NOR July 27th 2022 latest.

3.4 Places allocated under Stages 2- 4 shall only be confirmed upon receipt of the full entry fee. The Organizing Authority may announce a closing date for payment of fees for places allocated under each stage.

3.5 In order that a disabled competitor may be able to compete on equal terms, the race committee shall make as fair an arrangement as possible. It is the competitor’s responsibility to determine that adequate facilities are available before entering the event.

 

4. Measurement and Registration

4.1 A valid IOM Class Certificate for each boat must be made available at registration.

4.2 Boats together with their measurement certificates shall be presented for registration and equipment inspection on 27.10.2022. and 28.10.2022. from 09:00 to 18:00. The Race Committee may extend the time for registration and inspection if there is a valid reason to do so.

4.3 No boat shall be eligible to race until it has been registered and has passed equipment inspection.

 

5. Fees

5.1 The fee for the event per boat will be 397€ (including IOMICA fee 10€ and Jury transport costs 37€ managed by IOMICA). Payment has to be made by bank transfer to organizer.

5.3. Entry fee includes opening ceremony buffet on October 28th, lunches from October 29th to October 31st, from November 2nd to November 4th and prize giving dinner on November 4th.

Note: reserve day will only be used if 5 races have not been completed.

7. Sailing Instructions

The sailing instructions will be available at registration and may be available beforehand on the event website www.2022iomworlds.com.

 

8. Umpired races

8.1 WS International Umpires or International Judges shall be appointed as umpires. National Judges and National Umpires may be appointed to assist.

8.2 Competitors shall be required to undertake Observer duties.

8.3 An International Jury conforming to RRS Appendix N shall be appointed and the right of appeal is denied under RRS 70.5.

8.4 When a hearing is reopened under rule 68 or N1.4(b) any decision to penalize or give redress made after the warning signal of any heat to which a party to the hearing may be promoted, shall not change the race schedule for that race. This changes rules 64.1 and 64.2.

 

9. Scoring and Racing System

The Championship shall be raced and scored under the Heat Management System (HMS). Five races are required to be completed to constitute the championship.

 

10. Risk Statement

RRS 4 of the Racing RRSs of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a heat or to continue racing is hers alone.”.

Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in any of the events covered by this notice of race, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

  1. They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
  2. They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
  3. They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
  4. Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
  5. The provision of a race management team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organizer does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
  6. The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.

 

11. Accommodation, transport, etc

The event website contains a list of possible accommodation and costs, and a list of social, food, and transport packages and their costs.

 

12. Event and venue information

Event information updates will be posted on the web site for the IOM World Championship, Rogoznica 2022 at the following web site: www.2022iomworlds.com.

 

13. Media rights

Competitors, owners of the boats and their guests are giving all rights for using pictures and videos of persons and boats during the regatta in medias, including commercials, press materials and all other promoting activities and press releases.
