Organizing Authority

The International One Metre Class 2025 European Continental Championship is organized by Sailing Club Val (JK Val) and the IOM International Class Association (IOMICA) in conjunction with World Sailing (WS) the Croatian Sailing Federation (HJS), and the International Radio Sailing Association (IRSA). 

 

1. Rules

1.1 The event will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and Appendix E.

1.2 IOM Class rules.

1.3 RRS 90.3e shall apply.

1.4 Prescriptions of the National Authority will not apply.

1.5 Equipment Rules of Sailing and the Equipment Inspection Regulations as part of the sailing instructions.

1.6 The IOM Championship Class Regulations (CCR)

1.7 The World Sailing DR21 02 Test Rule for Umpired Radio Sailing.

1.8 The current applicable Simple Heat Racing System (SHRS) with a maximum of 100 boats.

1.11 The following changes to RRS will apply:

(a) Chartered or loaned boats may carry the national letters denoting the national authority and/or the sail number of the person or organization providing the boat. This changes RRS G1.1(b) and G1.2 as modified by RRS E8.

(b) In RRS 90.3(e), replace “24 hours” with “5 minutes”.

 

2. Eligibility

2.1 The competition is open to International One Metre class boat selected by an IOM National Class Association in good standing with IOMICA and IRSA. The additional requirements of the IOMICA Class Championship Regulations shall apply.

2.2 In order to accommodate and offer equal terms, the race committee shall make as fair an arrangement as possible. It is the competitor´s responsibility to determine that adequate facilities are available before entering the event.

 

3. Entry

3.1 Entries and allocation of places shall be governed by IOMICA Class Championship Regulations 8. The initial closing date shall be November 14th, 2024, for Non-Continental NCAs and non NCAs countries (GUEST). January 4th, 2025, for all European’s NCA. The allocation of places shall be announced no later than January 11th, 2025.

3.2 Entry forms shall be available on the event website www.iomrogoznica.com.

3.3 Completed entry forms shall be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Entry fees for places allocated under Stage One shall be sent to the account indicated in NOR 5.3 no later than January 4th, 2024.

3.4 Places allocated under Stage 2-4 shall be only confirmed upon receipt of the full entry fees. The Organizing Authority may announce a closing date for payment for places allocated under each stage.

 

4. Equipment Inspection and Registration

4.1 A valid IOM Class Certificate for each boat must be available at registration.

4.2 Boats together with their boat certificates shall be presented for registration and equipment inspection on April 4th, 2025, from 09:00 to 19:00 and/or on April 5th, 2025, from 09:00 to 18:00. The Race Committee may extend the time for registration and inspection if there is a valid reason to do so.

4.3 No boat shall be eligible to race until it has been registered and has passed equipment inspection.

 

5. Event Fees

5.1 The Entry fee for the event per boat will be:

5.3. Entry fees include opening ceremony, lunches and beverages (water) (optional), event shirt (optional), Trophies, prize giving dinner (closing ceremony) , IOMICA’s fee & Race Committee travel cost.

 

6. Schedule

November 14th, 2024 - Closing date for Intention of non-Continental countries for places.

The O.A. may officially race on the designated “Rest” period. Such decision shall be published no later than 12 hours before the day’s warning signal.

 

7. Sailing Instructions

The sailing instructions will be available at registration and may be available beforehand on the event website www.iomrogoznica.com.

 

8. Umpired races

8.1 WS International Umpires or International Judges shall be appointed as umpires. National Judges and National Umpires may be appointed to assist.

8.2 Competitors shall be ready to undertake Observes duties.

8.3 An International Jury conforming to RRS Appendix N shall be appointed and the right of appeal is denied under RRS 70.3(a).

8.4 When a hearing is reopened under rule 66 or RRS N1.4(b) applies, any decision to penalize or give redress made after the warning signal of any heat to which a party to the hearing may be promoted, shall not change the race schedule for that race. This changes RRS 63.5 and RRS 64.

 

9. Scoring and Racing System

The Championship shall be raced and scored under SHRS. Five races are required to be completed to constitute a championship.

  1.  The Qualifying Series will consist of 16 races, but no longer of 4 days. If 16 races are not completed by the end of 4th racing day, Qualifying Series will consist of all races completed until the end of 4th racing day. Any race that has started but is not completed on the 4th racing day will be abandoned and not counted for any results.
  2. Final Series will consist of all races completed on the 5th and 6th racing days.

9.1 The Final Series fleet allocation (Gold, Silver, Bronze etc) will be defined at the start of the Final Series event by IOMICA Representatives and Organising committee. 

 

10. Risk Statement

RRS 3 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat´s decision to participate in a heat or to continue racing is theirs alone.”

Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in any of the events covered by this notice of race, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

  1. They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in event.
  2. They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore.
  3. They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions.
  4. Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate.
  5. The provision of a race management team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organizer does not relieve them of their own responsibilities.
  6. The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.

 

11. Accommodation, transport, etc

The event website may contain a list of possible accommodation and costs, and a list of social, food, and transport packages and their cost.

 

12. Event and venue information
